As Ireland’s largest university, with its great strength and diversity of disciplines, UCD embraces its role to contribute to the flourishing of Ireland through the study of people, society, business economy, culture, languages and the creative arts,
as well as through research and innovation.
Volunteering for Orientation 2021
UCD has a number of volunteering roles available for the 2021 Autumn Trimester and we hope you’ll consider taking part.
In 2021 we currently expect Orientation to take place in a blended format with on campus and on-line components. The Provisional start date for Orientation 2021 is Thursday 2nd September (subject to change) and activity dates will be fully set out at a later date.
What is your Peer Mentor?
During Orientation week, UCD recruits Orientation Guides who help direct students around campus, run events and guide people to find answers to their questions. Being an Orientation Guide is a short commitment that allows you to have fun and enjoy Orientation week before the teaching term starts.
A detailed plan for Orientation 2021 is currently being drawn up. At present it is anticipated that Orientation will commence around September 2nd and Orientation Guides will be committed for approx 1 week.
Each year UCD recruits Peer Mentors to work with our first year students in small groups and help them to settle into college life. Peer Mentors have great fun passing on their wisdom and helping students make friends and find their way around college.
We are delighted to reward our Peer Mentors with Hoodies and other goodies during your term. Peer Mentors volunteer for an initial intense period of 6 weeks and maintain contact with their first year students throughout the year.
